Engines that are powered by petrol or fuel, in general, are the leaders in the Motorcycle market in Nepal, while it is also the leaders in contributing to the carbon footprint. But Motor Vehicle Company, the authorized dealer of NIU Electric scooters has already launched all-new NIU N1S electric scooter in Nepal. Yes, the electric scooter, which means no pollution and carbon footprint from their side. NIU is a company based in China, whilst Europe being its biggest market. But now they are spreading to other Asian markets as well.
The NIU N1S scooter looks as smart as you. It bears similar looks to other scooters that are available on the market. On the front, the scooter gets the uni-body LED lamp which integrates a daytime running light and standard light in a unique 360 degree CCFL structure combined with LED lamps. Along with that, the tail light and turn indicators also get the LED.
The instrument panel is quite big and displays information like speed, battery percentage, riding modes, and real-time amperage. Other than that it also gets the Niu application(on Android and iOS) comprising of features like GPS, Anti-theft, remote tracking, scooter diagnostics, etc. Similarly, the N1S gets Central Control Unit, USB Charging Port, 3 modes, Dual-Piston Hydraulic Disk Brake both front and rear. And as the displays are digital the visibility of the instrument panel is good even in the daylight. There is also a switch to open the seat with the storage capacity of 18.9 liters.
Battery and Specs
The N1S is operated by the BOSCH developed 2400W* motor. And powering the motor is the 60V 29Ah Lithium-ion Panasonic battery pack which comes with a 2-year guarantee. The 29Ah battery pack is fully recharged in six hours and provides an 80km range or about three to four typical days of urban commuting. However, the range depends on the constant driving speed of 20km/hrs. The battery pack is removable to reduce weight (by about 10 kg) and that you can charge it on the scooter or in home/office.
The N1S has the top speed of 45kmph, while, you can switch between three riding modes; Mode 1: which is an energy saving mode that helps to extend driving range, Mode 2: for speed and driving range and Mode 3: sports mode.
The NIU N1S also comes with a proprietary Field Oriented Control which delivers the ultimate riding experience. Likewise, the scooter’s FOC optimized motor with an EBS dual brake system recycles power back into the system. So when you’re braking, you are re-charging and that’s very smart.
NIU N1S Price in Nepal
The NIU N1S price in Nepal is Rs. 2,65,000 and yes you can get a bike for that price. But think how much you can save from the right decision and investment. Low maintenance cost, no fuel, no carbon footprint, etc. On top of that, the company has also planted their charging station throughout the Kathmandu valley, including Labim Mall, Sherpa Mall, Mercantile Plaza and their own showroom located in Maitighar.
The question, though, remains is that if it can sustain and compete in the competitive market of Nepal? Well, it might be difficult for them as people are not used to electric one even though there are other companies offering electric scooter since the masses prefer petrol engines. However, only time will tell.
