OnePlus’ brand took off for offering phones with high-grade specs and affordable prices; but lately, the latter holds no truth. The OnePlus Nord 2 5G — the new release — though is reviving the ‘flagship killer’ debate once again mainly due to its high-end specs with relatively low pricing.
The device is now on sale in Nepal, just a week after its international launch in India.
To start off, at the front, we have a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. There’s a punch-hole display that holds a 32MP selfie camera that replaces its predecessor’s dual-cam setup, giving room for the uninterrupted screen but you do miss out on the handy ultrawide sensor. However, the phone compensates one part with another — it has a dual speaker setup instead of just one on last year’s model.
At the back, the phone brings three cameras, one less than the original Nord, though the setup here is much more impressive than what you get on the previous model. To put in numbers, there’s a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor which is the same sensor seen on the OnePlus 9 Pro. There’s also support for OIS that should help you offer less shaky shots and Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR) that brings exposure data from two images into one final shot. The remaining two sensors are an 8MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP monochrome unit.
OnePlus has been near and dear to Qualcomm’s chipset from its inception, but it’s now substituting it with the new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI processor. The chipset is coupled up with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of onboard storage.
Powering the phone is a 4,500mAh battery with a ridiculous 65W Warp Charge topping the phone from 0-100% in about just 30 minutes. Out of the box, the phone boots on Oxygen OS 11.3 based on Android 11. OnePlus is ensuring that the phone will get two major Android upgrades and three years of security updates.
