Poco’s new addition, the M3 Pro 5G is officially here in Nepal and it brings a faster internet with 5G support, a faster 90Hz display, and a faster chipset all in all for an affordable price. Plus, it introduces a unique design that we have not seen from any Poco (or Xiaomi) phones before.
The core of the Poco M3 Pro 5G belongs to the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset which is a 7nm SoC with 2.77 Gbps of peak download speed, has a pair of Cortex-A76 cores, and a Mali G57 GPU. In comparison to the regular M3, which had the Snapdragon 662 inside, this one has a much faster CPU as well as a respectable GPU.
Not as good as running your heavy games at 90 fps, but at least you’ll get a smooth UI animation without any noticeable lags. The screen is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080p+ resolution and it’s protected with Gorilla Glass 3, which is almost as same as the vanilla M3, except for the refresh rate.
Another similar factor is the phone’s camera. The M3 Pro 5G has the same 48MP camera with a 1/2.0″ sensor and f/1.8 aperture as the regular one. Accompanying it is two 2MP macro and depth helpers each. For selfies, there’s an 8MP unit at the front which can be used for face unlock as well. If not, you can always route back to the fingerprint scanner which is on the side.
In terms of endurance, the Poco M3 Pro 5G lags a bit behind the vanilla M3, as it comes with a 5,000mAh battery instead of a 6,000mAh cell in its counterpart. However, the charging rate stays the same at 18W, and it ships with the same 22.5W charger in the box. Given that this phone has a different chipset and a 90Hz screen, it’s sure to affect the performance of the battery.
